Parent Liaison

Parent Liaison

The link between home and school is of vital importance and at St Felix school we continually strive to strengthen and develop these links and try to include parents in the children’s learning wherever possible.

Twice a year, we hold Parent Partnership days, where all parents, grandparents or carers are invited to come into school and share a morning or an afternoon with their children in their classroom and Key Stage. These days are planned to give parents an insight into the themes and topics that the children are working on and the teaching approaches that are used in the classroom. These days have always proved extremely successful and have encouraged a large number of parents to come into school and see for themselves that learning can be rewarding and fun!

The Foundation Stage hold fortnightly open times which is another opportunity for parents , grandparents and carers  to come into school and work alongside their children.  This is a lovely sharing time where the adults can see for themselves the different types of activities that are planned for the children and how to support their child in their learning.

We also have links with ‘Family Learning’, an organisation that run courses for parents who want to learn more about the curriculum taught in school or how they can help their child more effectively at home. These courses are available to all parents and are run by specialist tutors on the school site.

There are also various times of the year when parents help is much needed and appreciated. To help on school trips, to help listen to children read, for local walks and for various sporting activities. We always welcome parents into the school and appreciate all the help and support that is given.
