March 8th Reopening

We look forward to welcoming all pupils back on March 8th

This is first stage of the government’s road map and as such the requirements for enhanced hygiene and social distancing remain firmly in place.  Please wait 2m from other families and avoid physical contact such as handshakes.

There is no official government guidance on the wearing of face masks outdoors. However to keep our school community safe, it would be advisable to wear a face mask when attending the school site for drop off and collection for the next few weeks.

Pupils will continue to be taught in bubbles with minimal contact with other bubbles and start and finish times will be staggered as in the Autumn term. Breakfast Club and Wraparound will be available for bookings in the usual way. School lunches will be available in hot boxes as before Christmas.

Pupils should only bring essential items – bag / lunch box / water bottle / hat / school books. Toys and other items such as keyrings on bags should not be in school.

The usual rules on school attendance apply, including:

• parents’ duty to secure their child’s regular attendance at school (where the child is a registered pupil at school and they are of compulsory school age)

• the ability of schools to issue sanctions, including fixed penalty notices in line with local authorities’ codes of conduct

Parent Consultations next week are an opportunity for you to share with the teacher your experience of the last seven weeks and provide useful information about learning and your child’s welfare ahead of their return. Please book an appointment this week or get in touch with the office if you are struggling to do so. During some of these parent consultations (10-12 Tues and Thurs) teachers will not be available to provide immediate feedback to questions on Teams.

There may be further changes to the school day in the summer term dependant on government guidance and levels of infection.

I will share our new risk assessment via the website before we reopen fully on March 8th but in the meantime please stay safe and only send your child to school if there is no-one at home to supervise. Remote learning via Teams/Tapestry remains our primary offer.
