End of Term Events
I am sure you have been following the changes in the Covid restrictions in the media. The guidance for schools has not changed and the bubble structure remains in place and this of course has implications for end of term events.
Sports Day
As originally planned, Sports Day on 30th June remains a pupil only event. There is a limit of 30 for each group of spectators and given that our bubbles are greater than this we could not provide equal access to all parents to attend. The pupils will take part in their bubbles. EYFS and KS1 in the morning and KS2 in the afternoon. The vast size of our field means we can keep the children in their bubbles whilst still having a sense of ourselves as a sporting community.
Transition
At this time of year, we are beginning the transition process to support pupils moving up to their new classes. Unfortunately, the delay in the lifting of restrictions means:
That traditional transitional and open days are unlikely to be feasible this academic year (DfE 15th June).
The planned events for 15th July for pupils new to EYFS can go ahead as planned as these were based on a Covid secure model utilising our outdoor space. The Parents Information evening will now be an online event and the zoom link will be sent directly to those parents.
The Haverhill high schools are hoping to run their Y6 transition events as planned and more details will follow from them. Details from Linton Village College are awaited.
Within school we cannot have the Moving Up morning (15th July) we had planned as this involves the mixing of bubbles. If the weather is good, outdoor activities which keep groups separate will be used. Failing this we will provide opportunities to meet the new teacher on the 15th within current bubble spaces.
Celebration events
The government guidance is:
Currently, you should avoid hosting large group gatherings indoors for more than one bubble such as assemblies or mass worship.
Our Y6 are a single bubble and so the events we have planned for them can go ahead. The Y6 production will be recorded and shared with parents.
Our end of term Mass for the whole school cannot happen in church as we had hoped but if the weather is good we can celebrate outside in a Covid secure way similar to our current model for weekly assembly.
Parent reports
End of year reports will be sent out on Friday 9th July via the book bags. Please let us know before the 9th July if you require an additional copy where parents reside at different addresses and sharing is not possible. Attendance data and external assessment data will not be shared this year but information about the key areas of learning loss and ways parents can support this over the summer will be included.
Our tests and checks we are currently undertaking in school are highlighting the impact of reduced reading at home over lockdown and we will be launching our Ten in Ten challenge next week to address this.
We will continue to balance safety with opportunity to ensure our pupils have the best possible experience for the remainder of this term within current restrictions.
