Meet the Governors

The Governors - Chair's Introduction

On behalf of the Governing Body of St Felix Roman Catholic Primary School, I welcome you to the School's website. I am proud and privileged to lead the Governing Body at this exciting time in the School's development.

The Governing Body has general responsibility for the conduct of the School with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. We take a largely strategic role in the running of the School. This includes:

  • Setting up a strategic framework for the School;
  • Setting its aims and objectives;
  • Ensuring financial accountability and compliance;
  • Setting policies and targets to achieve the objectives;
  • Reviewing progress; and
  • Reviewing the strategic framework in the light of progress.

The Governing Body acts as a "critical friend" to the Headteacher and staff by providing constructive advice, support, a sounding board for ideas and help where needed. A critical friend may also challenge, ask questions, seek information, improve proposals and so seek to arrive at the best solution.

We are responsible for raising standards through the three key roles of:

  • Setting strategic direction;
  • Ensuring accountability; and
  • Monitoring and evaluating School performance

and the Governing Body is accountable to the Local Authority (Suffolk County Council) for the way the School is run.

My role as Chair is to harness and develop the skills and experience of our Governing Body in the most effective way for the good of the School.

If you wish to contact me, please email me at stfelixhaverhillcog@hotmail.co.uk or write to me at the School.

Mrs P Henderson Gray
Chair of the Governors
