Cleves Place Care Home

There was a shared outreach project between St Felix and Cleves Place Care Home in Haverhill before the impact of Covid on care homes. Once a fortnight a small group of children drawn from the House Captains and Ministry Team visited the home after school to join with the resident’s activities. These  included playing bingo, cream teas, Valentine’s celebration, leading the music and flower arranging to name but a few.

It was a very positive experience on both sides. The children articulated clearly what they have enjoyed and we  had fantastic feedback from Cleves Place Care Home. Our Interim Monitoring Visit highlighted how valuable this experience had been and the impact it has had on the children and their approach to older people.

Seven pupils from St Felix, supported by Mr Wolmarans and Mrs Walker, attended The Cycle Challenge at Cleves Place Care Home on Wednesday 22nd May 2019. This was part of Dementia Awareness Week. Our pupils contributed 26.3 miles to the total. They worked alongside other members of the Cleves Community.

In the same week we had a further delicious chance to contribute with our cake sales and bake off. There was a cupcake competition and as a school we collected enough cakes for every child to buy one and to sell to parents after school.

We hope to engage with similar local projects once the pandemic is over.
